The purpose of the MOU, which was signed with SK Innovation and Sheco, was to establish a collaborative ESG system for protecting and improving Korea’s marine environment.
The ceremony was attended by Executive director Park Chang-hyun of KOEM’s Marine Pollution Response Department, Vice President Lim Soo-gil of SK Innovation, and CEO Kwon Gi-sung of Sheco.
The MOU primarily aims for the consistent development of exchange/cooperation-related activities, including: ESG projects on protecting and improving the marine environment, joint campaigns/PR on climate change response for future generations, collection of data on marine pollution, and joint development/allocation of an intelligent AI-based oil skimmer.
Executive director Chang-hyun Park of KOEM’s Department of Marine Pollution Response said, “KOEM will take the initiative in implementing ESG management practices for the long term, such as the creation of a safe marine work environment, engagement in climate change response, and conducting of carbon reduction activities.”
