KOEM Receives Presidential Citation for the 27th Reading Culture Promotion Event

On September 6, Korea Marine Environment Management Corporation (KOEM, CEO Han Ki-jun) received the Presidential Citation, the highest honor in the 2021 Korea Reading Festival, whose opening ceremony was held online.

Reading Culture Promotion citations are provided by the Ministry of Culture, Sport, and Tourism to reward individuals and organizations that worked to promote reading culture. A total of twenty-four awards were issued this year.

KOEM received the award for opening Sea Dream Libraries in remote islands and fishing villages to enhance their previously inadequate reading environment. It was also recognized for encouraging reading among its employees through reading talent program, as well as promoting a reading culture at the workplace, homes, and local communities.

Furthermore, the citation was the Corporation’s efforts to develop books on marine environment conservation for different age groups, as well as announcing the reading management vision in 2019 to innovate its organizational culture.

Han Ki-jun, the CEO of KOEM, said that KOEM continue to share and propagate the key values of reading that effectuate changes in people and society, thereby helping create a social culture of growth and development.
